The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program
Helps individuals and families who are on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program to become financially independent. The FSS program provides access to one-on-one coaching to help you achieve your goals including employment, education, home ownership, health and more.
HOW CAN THE FSS PROGRAM HELP YOU?
We will connect you with services to help you:
Get your GED!
Go to college!
Find a full time job!
Improve your credit score!
Become a homeowner!
Get health insurance!
FSS ESCROW ACCOUNTS
An incentive to join the FSS program is the escrow savings account.
While on the Housing Choice Voucher program, when your earned income goes up, your portion of rent goes up
If you’re enrolled in the FSS program, you will also have money set aside every month in a special savings account called an escrow account
Example: If you get more hours at work and your portion of rent goes up by 4100, approximately $100 will also be placed in the escrow account every month for you!
When you graduate and meet your goals, you can use this money for whatever you want
The average amount received by participants is $5,000!
